Tourism in Europe: Malta and Cyprus are now ‘easier to get to’
Both Cyprus and Malta could become more popular as holiday destinations, thanks to new flight routes to the Mediterranean hotspots opening.
Paul Collins, overseas property editor of website BuyAssociation, claims that both nations will benefit from the new flights that touch down on the islands.
“Both countries have … had easyJet routes open up. They will both get the benefit from that as they will be easier to get to,” Mr Collins said.
The low-cost flights, as well as Cyprus and Malta taking adopting the euro from January 1st 2008, could ensure that both countries retain their status as popular summer retreats for Britons.
According to the official Malta tourism site, a trip to the island allows the traveller to experience “several holidays in one”.
Visits to temples, places and forts, as well as great food and firework displays, are all noted as highlights during a holiday to Malta.
