Pubs in Cork Ireland: The Long Valley

By admin at 10:23 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2007

For anyone who knows and loves Cork, this is a place of pilgrimage. There’s one endless, low-slung room with a bar running its full length, doors taken from an ocean liner, barmen in white butchers’ coats, and a selection of delectable sandwiches. It’s a little slice of heaven. Source:frommers.com

Cultural Tourism in Ireland: World Book Fest in Cork

By admin at 7:27 pm on Tuesday, April 17, 2007

World Book Fest is a three-day celebration of books and literature taking place in Cork city centre, 21, 22, and 23 April 2007. The Fest takes place in the Central Library, on the Grand Parade - the street in front of the Library - and in Bishop Lucey Park. We erect a marquee together with book stalls and food stalls on the Grand Parade, and there are readings by poets and prose writers as well as a range of other cultural events. The Fests proved very successful in 2005 and 2006, and we intend to build on the success so far and make the 2007 event a truly memorable one.

Following the day-long street programme on Saturday 21 April, the focus will shift indoors to the Central Library where an eclectic programme will last well into Sunday morning. Central Library will also host readings on Sunday evening and right through 23 April, World Book Day, Dia de Sant Jordi in Catalunya.

World Book Fest is jointly organized by Cork City Libraries, Triskel Arts Centre, Munster Literature Centre, and Tigh Filí with the assistance of the Arts Council and Fáilte Ireland.Source:1.u.tv
