Arles (Arles in Provençal) it is a city to the south of France, in the department Mouths of the Rhone, of which it is a subprefecture, in the old French province of Provenza.
The Rhone river (Rhône, in French) is divided in two arms in Ar to them, forming the region of the called delta the Camargue. Because the Camargue is administered by Ar to them, this one last one becomes one of the greatest communities of France due to its territory, although its population only consists of around 50,000 (2000). The total area of the territory is of 759 km ², that is seven times greater than the one of Paris.
The church of San Trófimo, formerly a cathedral, is an art work arquitectónia of the period Romanesque and the representation of the Last Supper in its vestibule is considered like one of the finest examples of románica sculpture, like the columns in claustro adjacent.
The city also counts on an excellent museum of old history (the Museum of Old Ar to them and Provenza), with one of the best collections of Roman sarcófagos that are outside same Rome. Also it is the called museum Museon Arlaten. Although van Gogh was inspired by the city for many of their works, no of them are in exhibition in her.
