The Province of Kalmar (in Swedish Kalmar län) is located in the Eastern part of Sweden. From historical times the strategic position of the province in the Baltic Sea and the contact with the Baltic nations has been an important factor for the commerce and navigation in the region. In this province are two national parks, 14 natural monuments and more than 100 natural reserves.
