This precious enclave of the old Mare Nostrum is archipilago made up of 5 islands and several small barren islands. Divided in two groups of islands, to the North the Gimnesias (Majorca, Menorca and Cabrera) and to the Southwest the Pitiusas (Ibiza and Formentera). The Balearic Islands are a Autnoma Community of the State espaol, governed by the Statute of Independent of the Balearic Islands. There are three Insulares Advice: in Majorca, Menorca and in archipilago of the Pitiusas.
