Pontevedra is a province of the northwest of Spain, in the southwestern part of the independent community of Galicia. It limits with the provinces of Corunna, Lugo, and Orense, with Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Its population is of 938,311 inhabitants INE 2005, on who 79,372 live in the capital, Pontevedra. Vigo is the most populated city of the province and Galicia with 293,725 inhabitants. In the province of Pontevedra there are 62 municipalities. In this province is the National Park of the Atlantic Islands. Pontevedra is the capital of the province of the same name, located in the south of Galicia, in the northwest of Spain. Like provincial capital, it is a city mainly of services, since the great majority of the industrial weave of the Province of Pontevedra is in the neighboring city of Vigo, with which conforms the greater population concentration of Galicia. The population of Pontevedra is 79,372 inhabitants according to the data of the distributed INE to 1 of January of 2005 in an extension of 117 km². It limits: to the N with the municipalities of Barro and Moraña, to the NE with the municipality of Lameiro Field, to the E with the municipality of Cotobade, to with the municipality of Ponte Caldelas, to the S with the municipality of Soutomayor, to UNDER with the municipalities of Vilaboa and Marín, to Or with the Atlantic Ocean, to NOT with the municipality of Meis.
