Jaén is a province of the south of Spain, in the independent community of Andalusia. It limits by the west with Cordova, the north, with Real City, by the east, with Albacete, and by the Southeastern, with Granada. Its capital is Jaén. Its surface is of 13,498 km². Its population is of 660,284 inhabitants (2005, INE), on who, near one sixth part they live in the capital, and its density of population is 48,01/km². is composed by 97 municipalities, between which they emphasize, along with the capital, Linares, Úbeda, Baeza, Andújar, Martos, Cazorla and Alcala the Real one. Geography The Valley of the Guadalquivir in its birth between the Mountain range of Cazorla and the Mountain range of Safe. In the Mountain range of Cazorla, in Pontoons, the Segura river is born, whereas in the Gorge of the Sources, in the municipal term of Quesada, the Guadalquivir river is born. Although she is one of the Spanish provinces less known by the tourists, has many interesting places that to visit. Jaén has, next to other protected natural places, four Natural Parks: Natural park of the Mountain range of Andújar. Natural park of Mágina Mountain range. Natural park of Despeñaperros. Natural park of the Mountain range of Cazorla, Safe and the Villas. The province also counts on two important Renaissance cities: Úbeda and Baeza, that recently have been declared Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO. The province of Jaén is the greater world-wide olive oil producer. Reason why great part of the giennense economy is based on the monoculture of Olivo.
