The province of Granada is in Andalusia (Spain), to borders of the Mediterranean Sea and total Penibética mountain range. Its capital is the city of Granada. It limits, to the west, with the provinces of Malaga and Cordova; to the north with Jaén, Albacete, and Murcia; to the Almeria east and the south it has exit to the Mediterranean. Its area is 12,635 km², its population is 854,419 (2005), on which approximately a 30% live in the capital, and its density of 68.18 population is hab/km2. One is divided in 168 municipalities (to see List of municipalities of Granada). The main population centers are capital Granada and its metropolitan area (55%), the Coast (10,5%) and the localities of Guadix, Trick, and Loja. The highest mountain of the Iberian Peninsula, the Mulhacén, with a height of 3,482 meters, is located in Granada. Joint party with the province of Almeria the National Park of Sierra Nevada.
