Ciudad Real is a province of Spain in the Independent Community of Castilla La Mancha. It has 497,691 inhabitants (register of 2005) and 19,813 km² of surface. 100 municipalities. Its provincial capital is Real City. It limits the north with the province of Toledo, the northeast with the province of River basin, the east with the province of Albacete, the south with the provinces of Cordova and Jaén and the west with the province of Badajoz. Geography Its landscape is defined by the Central Plateau, in its meriodional half; one is a level profile with small hills normally of little altitude. To the South the province is delimited by Brown Mountain range, whose main passage towards the Independent Community of Andalusia is in Despeñaperros. The North is delimited by Montes de Toledo, of little altitude. The main hydrographic river basin is the one of the Guadiana. This river has like birth the Lagoons of Ruidera, to the East of the province, that disappears and returns to reappear in the neighborhoods of the locality of Villarrubia of the Eyes. Some of their affluents in the province are the Cigüela, the Záncara and the Jabalón. The climate of the province Mediterranean is continentalizado, with one of the greater thermal oscillations of the peninsula. This causes to invier cold and very warm and dry summers to us. The province is in the way from Toledo to Andalusia, the main one communication channel of Spain during practically all its History, reason why the transport never has been a problem in Real City. State highway 4 crosses of North to the South the province between Port Lápice and Almuradiel, whose passage continues until Andalusia.
