Badajoz is a province of Spain, in the South part of the independent community of Extremadura. It limits with the provinces of Cáceres, Toledo, Real City, Cordova, Seville, and Huelva, and with Portugal. With its surface of 21,766 km², is the most extensive province of Spain. The other province of Extremadura, Cáceres, is second in extension. Badajoz has a population of 671,299 inhabitants (INE 2005). Its capital is the city of Badajoz. Badajoz is a Spanish city located in the west of the Iberian Peninsula, to borders of the river Guadiana, very next to Portugal. Homónima is capital of the province, and greater and the more populated urban nucleus with Extremadura, with 143,019 inhabitants (2005 census INE). Its climate is oceanic continental with invier to us fresh, 13,9º/3,2º in January, and warm summers, 34,3º/17,0º in July, absolute principles that surpass 40º every year (45,0º the 1 of August of 2003). Its economy is based on the sector services, serving of great commercial connection for the southwest as the Iberian Peninsula.
