General Information

The Cantabrian Mountain range by the South, that are united to the Tips from Europe to the Southwest, and the Bay of Biscay to the North constitutes the limits and the geographic pecualiaridad more notable of Cantabria.
The Mountain range steeply loses height towards the Cantabrian (less than 40 km in line straight) cut perpendicularly by fluvial valleys. This produces a relief of mounts and cols that of the South to North are losing height and which they box individual rivers, torrential in his origin and of short route, that end up ending at Cantabrian at estuaries and the bays.
The central part of the Region extends to the South of the Cantabrian Mountain range in two regions, Campoo and Valderredible that enter in earth meseteñas. Deva, Nansa, Saja, Besaya, Pas, Juniper oil, Asón and Agüera are the main ones of these rivers of the West to This.
These rivers form pretty valleys in their reduction, sometimes vertiginous, from the Mountain range to the sea. And other valleys its affluents. Single the Ebro river, that arises in Fontibre, in Campoó, does not spill its waters to the Cantabrian, but to the Mediterraneo, after its passage in his first kilometers by territories of Cantabria, where it is dammed in the Stream prey with regulating aims of his volume. This gives rise to that the Ebro to their passage by Valderredible, after the prey, is a river that paradoxicalally has more volume in summer than in winter.
The cliffs are distributed by all the Cantabrian coast, acquiring an imposing character; in the western part, Bathtub Greater and Smaller Bathtub; in Santoña and Oriñón, in the part Monte Candina oriental.En this place, to which this photography corresponds, abruptly reaches the altitude of 472 meters from the sea. Equally spectacular is the Buciero, in Santoña, that reaches the 380 meters more steeply, if it fits. This spectacularity of the cliff formation, that is increased the days of galerna, has its counterpoint in beaches. Nothing less than 58, of very different sizes from 5 km from the Beach of Salve', in Laredo, until which they form in small and recondite coves, always of fine gilded sand, like the one of Prellezo, near San Vicente of the Barquera, to which the inferior photography corresponds. Sometimes the sandy grounds take the form from dunes, being remarkable those of Oyambre and Liencres.
