La Palma is a resistance island thanks to its unevenness, that goes from the level of the sea (the Atlantic Ocean) to the 2,426 m.s of the Roque of the Boys, elevated point more of the island. In the center of the Island is a great boiler that forms the Boiler of Taburiente, declared National Park in 1954. From the center of the island to the south, in the call Old Summit, there is a series of volcanos between which they are the one of San Antonio, the Volcano of San Juan and the Teneguía (last volcanic eruption of the Canary Islands in 1971).
The island also has the Natural Old Summit Park and the Natural Park of Snows, as well as a series of protected organizations of so large minor and level of protection. In 1983, the zone of "the Channel and the Linden trees" are declared like Reserve of the biosphere by UNESCO, and later in 1997 the zone was extended forming the "Reserve of the Biosphere of the Linden trees", and finally, in the 2002 the reserve to all the island with the denomination of Reserve of the Biosphere of the Palm extended. La Palma is one of the Canary islands with greater wooded surface, being this as much of pines as of laurisilva. As far as agriculture the main cultures are the banana and the grapevine. At the present time the municipality more populating is Level of Aridane, surpassing in population to Santa Cruz of the Palm, the capital of the Island.
