Like all the cities with several centuries of history, Belgorod combines in its architecture the beauty of old buildings with grandeur and the originality the modern ones.
Belgorod is the birthplace of much well-known famous people through country: Raievsky, poet, publicista and Russian official, who been of family was in the village of Hvorostianka (now the village of the area of Raievskoe, of Goubkinsky). Official of the war of Napoleon of 1812, granted a gold sword to him for the value. In 1825, Raievsky that became a Decembrist was condemned the death, but later exiliado to Siberia.
In 1856, Raievsky was amnestied, but they remained to this freedom-affectionate man in Siberia until its death. In this earth to short the life shining but of Stankevich it began and it finished. During his studies in the university of Moscow he created a philosophical group, that influenced social life in 1830s Russia greatly.
The memory of Stankevich is perpetuated in the names of streets in Alexeevka (region of Belgorod), Voronezh and Moscow.
