The District of Beja is a district Portuguese, pertaining to the traditional province of the Low Alentejo. It limits the north with the District of Évora, the east with Spain, the south with the District of Light and the west with the District of Setúbal and the Atlantic Ocean. Area: 10 225 km² (the greater Portuguese district). Resident population (2001): 161.211. Seat of the district: Beja. The district of Beja corresponds to South half of the alentejana plain, irrigated by small water obstacles in general and that almost is dried in summer, and crossed in its totality by low mountain ranges and little inclined.
