Sete Cidades, to about 17 km to the northwest of
Ponta Delgada is one of the natural attractions more known São Miguel, a known paradisíaco landscape like the Caldeira it give Sete Cidades, an Impressive boiler of 12 km of perimeter and 7 km of diameter that formed by the collapse of a crater during a great eruption in prehistoric times although their present form must to the terrible eruption of 1445. It counts the legend that seven cities that were founded by Spanish bishops, later expelled, sank in the place where it is today the boiler.
Within the boiler it has, aside from three small lagoons, two Great Lakes of almost equal size; the Lagoa Verde of crystalline greenish waters and the Blue Lagoa of amazing blue waters, separated both only by a close way. The discharges and lofty walls of the crater rise until the 300 meters of height and are covered of exuberante vegetation creating a fascinating resistance with calm waters of smooth colors, an unforgettable landscape!
Within the crater also, is the village of Sete Cidades, with its peculiar houses, its small church of neon-gothic style at the end of a highway with cedars aligned to its sides and a typical park with old trees and abundance of azaleas (mainly during its time of flowering) - endemic species of the flora of the place.
From the Vista viewpoint do King, who offers magnificent views to us of the lakes, the village of the Sete Cidades and great extensions of vegetation, begins one of the strolls with the best views of the island, bordering the lakes until the top of precious the full crater of hortensias
