Ponte de Sor (sometimes writing Ponte de Sôr) is a Portuguese city of the District of Portalegre, Alentejo region and subregion of the Alentejo Stop, with near 8,800 inhabitants. Formerly it had belonged to the old province of the Ribatejo (although the population of Ponte de Sor considers itself, in its majority, alentejana).
She is host of a municipality with 839.23 km ² of area and 18 140 inhabitants (2001), subdivided in 7 freguesías. The municipality limits the northeast with the municipalities of Gavião and Crato, to the east with Alter do Chão, to the Southeastern with Avis, the south with Moor, the southwest with Coruche and the northwest with Chamusca and Abrantes.
