Pacos de Ferreira located in the region of the valley of the Sousa River, predominantly agriculturist and characterized by bucólicos landscapes, the seat of the municipality of Paços de Ferreira is proud of the title of “Capital of the Furniture”, due to her enterprising industry and commerce of furniture and wood accessories.
In the town, she is worth the trouble to visit the church of the Monastery of San Pedro de Ferreira (of century XII, in rural Romanesque style), picota and the Municipal Museum.
Nevertheless, the main treasure is the known archaeological deposit like Citânia de Sanfins, one of most important in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, constituted by one ciudadela of the Age of the Iron that dates from century II a.C.
The excavated area shows a triple ring of defensive walls surrounding approximately one hundred fifty constructions that occupy a surface of more than fifteen hectares; there is in addition a small museum in the strength located on the summit.
Another site of archaeological interest and another fortification of the Age of the Iron are Castro gives Vila, near mountains of the Serra gives Agrela.
