Monsaraz the one of the seven churches, completely contained by its walls, Monsaraz is shown to the border plain of the Alentejo watered by the Guadiana. From so privileged position, the landscape acquires certain qualities that can arrive to be considered magicians. Perhaps, there, on pulcras territories of farming sprinkled of cork oaks and olive trees where movement is not appraised some, also the time stops.
The stones that conform strength, walls and churches emanate certain air of mystery, become related, without a doubt, with which, raised, incarnated old prehistoric rites. But, dólmenes which they populate these places have their own personality and the familiarity that shows with respect to Monsaraz does not prevent that the city, in himself, has created the hers own one. Identity that cannot separate, nevertheless, of the alentejanas plains, the liquid border line which the Guadiana river becomes towards the east and of a history that raised the old castle and up to seven churches, perhaps too many for the volume of this town.
