The island of Flowers is the fourth smaller and located one in the most Eastern end of Azores. Its name totally is justified by the great amount of flowers and plants that grow in this island and turn it one of prettiest and full of colorful. Many of the seeds are taken by the birds of as distant places as Flowery. Geographically it is located in the American continental mass, to the north, 24 km we found Pothook and is to about 250 to 350 km of the central group and to 600km of the most distant island, Santa Maria. Its location conditions its climate in comparison to the rest of the islands and while its temperature stays moderate throughout the year, Flowers have the rain double much more and wind. It is this rain that obtains that Flowers are “more green” of all wonderful and numerous the islands and that it offers rainbow.
Flowers can be proud to count on one of the most western points of Europe, the town of Fajã Grande is in the extreme west of the island. Almost the 4.000 inhabitants of Flowers live in the localities that extend throughout their rough coast with numerous cliffs that hurry to the ocean where countless and small small barren islands almost embellish the landscape in the totality of the coast. There are only two municipalities in the island, Santa Cruz gives Flowers is the capital and is located in the central part of the coast this and Lajes gives Flowers in the South coast. Most of the population it lives in these two pueblecitos!
