Fafe is a Portuguese city of the District of
Braga, North region and subregion of the Bird, with near 15 300 inhabitants.
She is host of a municipality with 218.87 km ² of area and 52 757 inhabitants (2001), subdivided in 36 freguesías. The municipality limits the north with the municipalities of Póvoa de Lanhoso and Vieira do Minho, to the east with Cabeceiras de Basto and Celorico de Basto, to the south with Felgueiras and the west with Guimarães. It is bathed by the Vizela River.
Until 1840 concelho had the designation of Montelongo or Monte Longo.
