 General Information

Trentino-South Tyrol is an independent region in the north of Italy. It includes/understands two different areas, the Trentino, of Italian speech and with capital in Trento, and the Tirol of the mainly German South of speech, with capital in Bolzano, that are the two provinces that conform the region. It comprised of Austria until his annexation by Italy in 1919.
Venezia Tridentina between 1919-1947 was called. The region limits with the Austrian Tirol the north and with the Italian regions of Lombardía the west and Véneto the east. Km2 includes/understands 13,607. She is extremely mountainous, covering a great part with the Dolomitas and the Alps of the south. The lower grade crossing in the Alps is the Passo Brennero, that is located in the North end of the region, in the limit with Austria. These entirely mountainous regions in the Swiss border cover the valley with the river Isarco, whose waters they flow from the Passage of the Brenner, coming together in the Adige river until the Mediterranean. The germanic and Italian cultures are mixed here until the point of which more, towards the north, the German is the used language.
The Dolomitas is a mountain range of mountains very escarped that are so isolated of Italy and of Switzerland that in those remote valleys the inhabitants speak ladin, an old románica language not very different from Latin. The main city of Trentino is Trento, worthy to visit itself by its abundance of artistic works, collected by the dynasties of princes who governed the region from century X to the XVIII. Many of these artistic acquisitions can be seen in the museums of the city, within which they emphasize the Castello I gave Buonconsiglio, the Museum of Provincial Art and the Museum Diocesano Trentino Trentino-Alto Adige has a population of 940,016 inhabitants, an extension of 13,607 km2 and one 69 density of hab/km2. The greater ethnic groups are the italohablantes (a 60%) and the germanohablantes (a 35%), emphasizing the ladina minority. In the Tirol of the South the majority language is the German (it speaks 65 to it % of the population), whereas in the Trentino solely Italian speech.
