MILAN
The most sophisticated and cosmopolitan city of the north of Italy, Milan, is a financial and commercial center of world-wide importance and a rival of Paris in the spheres of the modern art and the fashion. Its international character is marked by a great concentration of skyscrapers that are not in any other part of Italy, contrasting with the historical buildings, but is constructed under the same arrogance and civic pride that 500 years ago its splendid gothic Cathedral gave to the city. Still today, this one is the second greater church of the world, in spite of its stature, creates an impression of delicate and etérea beauty due to its pale color and to its fine carving in the cover of its outside. The whole city is full of palaces, seats and churches, that speak of centuries of continuous prosperity. The Castello Sforzesco, to the west of the city, is a massive castle fortified, begun by the Visconti and finished by the Sforza. It was the political and social bastion where the Sforzas made their decisions during the height from Milan as political-cultural center and much of the elite of the Renaissance were born within its luxurious dominions. The artists of their cut included Leonardo Da Vinci and to Twine and the place now contains a great number of museums. Famous the fresh air of Leonardo Da Vinci, the Last Supper can be seen in the convent of Santa Maria della Grazie.
