The Aosta Valley (in Vallée French d'Aoste, in Italian Valley d'Aosta) is a mountainous region located in the northwest of Italy, the smallest region. It limits with France the west, Switzerland to the north and the region from Piedmont to the south. The region includes/understands 3,264 km square and has a population of 113,000 (partially francófonos). The French is used in the acts and governmental laws, although the language that at the moment speaks most of the population is patois, dialecto French francoprovenzal call, that used to be spoken in Saboya, Switzerland francófona, the area of Lyon and Jura. The Valley of Aosta is the only region where still this language is used ámpliamente. The region has a special status and forms one of the Provinces of Italy. The capital of the region is Aosta. The area was under control of diverse controls until it happened to the house of the Saboya in century XI. One settled down like independent region of Italy in 1944.
