The state of Baja Sajonia, the second State federated German in surface, extends from the Eastern islands frisias of the North Sea (Borkum, Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge), to mountains of the Harz. Between these two ends they are the great urban sprawl around Hannover (yes, the city of the Expo2000), the solitary region of moors and the plains of the Hildesheimer Börde with the most fertile labrantíos of the country.
It is, by extension, the second state of Germany. Greater than Swiss, it occupies the northwest of Germany, between the North coast - including the Frisias Eastern, and the Harz mountains, in whose epicenter is the city of Hannover. It is here where we found the Altes Land (old earth), the greater extension of fruit trees of all Europe, specially beautiful when the flowering of the apple trees takes place; the “humid triangle” between the mouths of the rivers Elbe and Weser and the fishing port of Cuxhaven.
Baja Sajonia has the greater network of bicisendas of all Germany. Some cities of historical interest are Hildesheim - center of the empire of the Otones-, Bardowick and Brunswich, an important commercial city during the Average Age. The two third parts of their earth dedicate to agriculture and the cattle ranch, although they have powerful industries like chemistry and the automobile one.
Hannover is one of the economic epicenters of the country, now revalued thanks to the celebration of the Universal Exhibition of year 2000. Totally it was destroyed during World War II. The most emblematic buildings are the Opernhaus, of neoclassic style, the Altes Rathaus (old city council) and the Marktkirche (church of the market), constructed in century XIV with a tower that is the emblem of the city.
Volkswagen is the greater manufacturer of automobiles of Europe and one of most important of the world. It has its central seat in the city of Wolfsburg, Baja Sajonia.
The two great Baja advantages Sajonia to compete as place of businesses is their centric situation within the European market, specially after the extension of European Unión (UE) in 2004, and one outstanding infrastructure.
