The Federal Republic of Germany (RFA; in German, Bundesrepublik Deutschland) is a country of central Europe that comprises of European Unio'n (UE). It limits the north with the North Sea, Denmark and the Baltic Sea; to the east with Poland and Czech Republic; to the south with Austria and Switzerland, and to the west with France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands. Germany means "land of alamanes", in reference to one of the Barbarian towns that crossed the Rin and invaded the Roman Galia during century V. In addition to German, also the use of the Germanic gentilicio is extended, derivative of the name whereupon the Romans knew the zone, Germania. During most of its history, Germany was a geographic term used to designate an area occupied by several States. One became a State united during 74 years (1871-1945), but was divided at the end of World War II in the Federal Republic of Germany (RFA, well-known like Western Germany) and the German Democratic Republic (RDA, well-known like Eastern Germany). The 3 of October of 1990, the RDA happened to comprise of the RFA, reason why Germany returned to be a united nation
